Heh, something I never knew. In places like the Turnagain arm of the Cook Inlet the tide is impeded by mud, so when it finally breaks through it forms a big wave rushing in. That’s pretty cool, especially since people surf it sometimes.

Good points about doing “favors” for people. When you do a favor for someone, especially on the road, you’re often inconveniencing someone else.

Yes, yes I would. I’ve even said I’d buy a few Xserves if there was a requirement for Apple hardware.

I’ve lived in AK for 13 years, and have managed to miss seeing the Tidal Bore completely up to now.
Its actually not so much the mud that causes it as a combination of the long long path the water flows up(all of Cook Inlet and then being tightly compressed into the Arm) and it being fought by all the wind coming down the Arm off Portage Glacier and lake.
I so want to get up there sometime and see Alaska…
