I Have A Cunning Plan

Now that we can buy our own top level domains, let’s all band together and get .sucks or something.

This is going to be freaking chaos.

Yes. I’m sincerely hoping that some benevolent force takes .local before Mac users are screwed.

Also, my super-secret-internal-domain-of-doom is now in danger of conceivably being in use in real life.

Think of the opportunities we’ll have for creative new phishing attacks!

    Your not kidding.

    Lets see..

    .localhost
    .localdomain
    .local
    .1 in UTF-8
    .google
    .yahoo
    .icann’sLostIt
    .microsoft
    .exe
    .com
    .bat

For years ICANN has fought against more root level TLDs for a good reason. Its a BAD idea.

    @Ian

Yes, until they realized they could get $10,000 a piece from them…

If I remember correctly, they can ge 64 characters long, too. No shortage of those anytime soon.

    /sigh

How about .not? That’s what some people have been calling a certain pervasive MS technology for a long time now.
