If you’ve ever thought about working with the people & organization who basically eliminated rickets by discovering how to boost and synthesize vitamin D, who took a bunch of spoiled sweet clover hay and turned it into the most popular blood thinner ever (and the most popular rat poison ever, ha!), or who isolated human embryonic stem cells so that research could happen without destroying embryos in the process, here’s your chance. The Morgridge Institute for Research on the University of Wisconsin β Madison campus is looking to hire:
- two build & test workflow system developers,
- one database developer,
- one software security specialist,
- and two system administrators,
- among some other positions,
as part of the Software Assurance Marketplace, or SWAMP. SWAMP is a new collaboration between the Morgridge Institute for Research, University of Wisconsin β Madison, NCSA’s Cybersecurity Directorate, and Indiana University’s Center for Pervasive Technology Institute. They’re trying to improve the security and reliability of software, particularly open-source, to improve cybersecurity. They’ve got their work cut out for them, if you ask me. π
The development positions are looking for Python/Perl/Java/C/C++ geeks, and the sysadmin positions sound pretty hip/devops-y, too:
We are seeking candidates who have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology or equivalent experience. At least 2 years of infrastructure/network support or related experience is desired. Candidates also must exhibit excellent customer service and communication skills as well as the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Ideal candidates will possess knowledge of the following:
– LAN/WAN, UNIX, Linux, Windows, Apple/Mac technology environments; Virtual server environment; storage solutions including RAID, SANs and direct attached storage
–Β Server room facilities like power, cooling and network distribution systems
– LAMP-based (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) web server environments
– Software development environments like Git, CVS and Subversion
– Scripting languages like shell, Perl and Python
– Configuration management systems like Puppet, Chef and CFengine
– High-performance or high-throughput computing systems like Condor, PBS, SGE is a plus
– Cloud Operations Experience, especially with openstack, cloudstack, or cloupia is a big plus
