You have got to be kidding me. If you need this explained to you you should not be in IT, nor anywhere near a virtual machine.

"The brainfuck programming language is an esoteric programming language noted for its extreme minimalism. It is a Turing tarpit, designed to challenge and amuse programmers, and is not suitable for practical use. Its name has been variously bowdlerized. The name of the language is generally not capitalized, although it is a proper noun."

You occasionally get people who shouldn’t be doing IT, don’t want to be doing IT, but end up forced to do IT anyway. I can easily imagine a situation where someone needs some old custom software that only runs on Windows 95 and their last 95-compatible computer dies. Running it under VMWare is a reasonable solution, but for whatever (likely management related) can’t get one. It’s easy to imagine, because right now I’m supporting someone who isn’t an IT guy, but got stuck setting up some different complex software. I’m betting VMWare gets a stream of support queries from that sort of person, so a page like that is a good idea.
Wow, I botched that one. “for whatever reason” and “can’t get an IT guy” makes more sense.
I totally get what you’re saying, and how it happens, but I still think it’s sorta ridiculous. 🙂
