About Me

Hi! My name is Bob Plankers, and I am a professional system administrator, system architect, and designer. This is my personal blog.

In the past twenty years I’ve worked on all manner of desktops and servers, with all manner of software and hardware technology, storage, and networks for private firms and government agencies. Technology is easy. What isn’t easy is people mixed in with the technology. Enterprise system design and architecture is all about how people use and maintain technology.

This blog is a chronicle of my adventures. And rants. And random musings. It’s really just a chronicle of me, with a bias towards my work. I called it “The Lone Sysadmin” because I liked “The Lone Gunmen” of X-Files fame, plus many system administrators are all alone out there, one person against a whole organzation that doesn’t understand what they do or how valuable they are when they’re doing a good job. “No news is good news” constantly bites us system administrators in the duff.

If you want to contact me, feel free. I’m bob@lonesysadmin.net. Or, leave comments in the articles. Or, subscribe to my RSS feed. I’m honored every time someone subscribes, that someone might like my stuff enough to read more.

Thanks!
