My son has a ipod I bought from him last year a 8 gig nano.He now wants a 32 gig touch.Wanted to get him a new computer.
bought same one I bought in Arizona a HP pavillian with windows Vista. The only thing is it's a 64 bit mine is a 32. Now I see he will have to install loads of upgrades to keep working? I definately know he will have a problem with it.So going to return it and get the 32 bit like this one.Besides will be much better to have vista on all pc's.

To TIM - thanks for the tips but I tried your suggestion on turning on Itunes before I plug in my laptop to the USB port. It STILL froze up on me when I tried to move a TV show I downloaded, ONTO my Video Classic Ipod. I also have trouble ejecting it when it's frozen and I tried updating Windows like another posting suggested and that didn't fix anything either. I have a laptop w/ Vista too obviously. HELP

I am so angry that I can't move my PURCHASED videos onto my IPOD because of Bleeping VISTA that I think SUCKS because they rolled it out without fixing S**t like this!! And in respone to the useless entry from "yousuck" at start of this forum, when you buy a new laptop you are FORCED to have Vista. That person should change their new to "dumbf**k"! I think Itunes should pursue monetary reimbursement from Microsoft to pay back all of us whom have spent money on Itunes buying stuff that we can't even GET TO due to VISTA!! OR they should do something to push MS into fixing ALL Itunes compatibility issues!!

I just purchased an HP Pavilion w/Vista 64 bit - my son has an ipod Nano w/alot of songs already on it - what I'm reading scares me - should he even try to download more songs? Any suggestions?

Hi, I cannot get Itunes on a Vista machine to work with the airport express. I have 4 other PC's running (Xp, Xp pro) and the airport works fine (Love the Remote program for the Iphone....works great), but we have a Vista machine in the kitchen. Itunes runs fine on this PC, but when I select the airport it does not give an error, just no music plays out the stereo. Any suggestions?
Mike
(flame suit on, does leopard support quickbooks and quicken and all PC games? NO)

I'm having problems with iTunes 8 on my Vista. In the past, I've overcome iTunes upgrades with a variety of fixes, but today, nothing's working, and I need help. I don't have SP1 installed because the last upgrade from Windows corrupted my hard drive, so I just don't upgrade. The lack of it forced me to use a compatible version of iTunes, but at least it worked. Today after downloading and installing/re-installing 3 times with reboots, all with my USBs disconnected, my firewall and antivirus off, I'm getting forced restarts "for configuration changes made to take effect." Anyone have ideas on what to do? I've tried removing the sd files and resetting authorization. Didn't work. I'm also interested in getting an old version of iTunes if I have to.

I been using my own home grown pc's since 1995 and had to learn a lots of stuff in the time since. The one thing is that all the problems listed I dont have with itunes, I have a strange one, after installing itunes I cant right click anything without crashing desktop explorer in vista. I uninstall itunes and clean the REG and all is ok. I reinstall itunes and back to the same problem. At this point I only install itunes for updates and to add stuff to the iphone and then uninstall itunes. is this a simple problem you all have already had and fixed?

If you have problems with itunes and vista (“Itunes has Stopped working”) try this ->

1.) Make sure that you have the latest version of itunes installed

2.) go to the windows programs deinstallation dialogue and deinstall quicktime.
It may happen that quicktime stays in the list of installed programs. nevermind.

3.) restart your computer

4.) Go to C:\Program Files and remove the whole Quicktime folder

5.) go to c:\windows\system32 and search for all files beginning with quicktime*. remove them. (do not remove the quick.ime if you have this file)

6.) reinstall (repair) itunes (quicktime will not be installed)

7.) reinstall (repair) quicktime (make sure to get the latest version from apple.com. quicktime only!!)

8.) start itunes!

the quicktime uninstall process is also described at apple.com (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926?viewlocale=en_US) -> "Completely Remove iTunes and QuickTime"

have fun. it took me a day to find that solution. thanks to you guys up there :)
